Beading and Poetry

A bead embroidery WIP (work in progress); I am not sure what direction this piece is going...hence it languishes, waiting for inspiration. I created this a few years ago on a visit to Alaska--the wild blueberries were ripe and I was picking buckets of them each day---the green forest and blueberries inspired the palette. Other than that--what is it? and where is it going? suggestions welcome...

And so, in honor of my home state, Alaska--a poem by the Alaskan poet John Haines.

IF THE OWL CALLS AGAIN

at dusk
from the island in the river,
and it's not too cold,

I'll wait for the moon
to rise,
then take wing and glide
to meet him.

We will not speak,
but hooded against the frost
soar above
the alder flats, searching
with tawny eyes.

And then we'll sit
in the shadowy spruce
and pick the bones
of careless mice,

while the long moon drifts
toward Asia
and the river mutters
in its icy bed.

And when the morning climbs
the limbs
we'll part without a sound,

fulfilled, floating
homeward as
the cold world awakens.

I like the fringes and the beaded rope at the top. How big is this WIP??

I'm not sure I see where it is going either, but some pieces are just pieces we have to do. Later you may find out the 'why' of doing it. I like it, although I didn't think of blueberries and the forest right away, but I can almost taste those blueberries! So good!
