What's in a Name?

Some of you readers and browsers who happen to come across my blog, or even if you are a regular reader---you might wonder where I got the name Foxy Art Studio? well, my last name is Fox--yep, that is correct---my name is : Aurora Fox! what some folks don't know is that Fox is not my family's name, or my "maiden" name, or my married name...this "last " name came from a dream I had. Since I was in the midst of a divorce---and I had taken my then-husband's name when I married (I was very young--the women's movement was just beginning then ;-) and for various reason's I didn't want to go back to my family's name (really my father's last name)---so I decided to just pick my own last name. Once I legally changed it, I was surprised when I checked my local phone books and found so many folks with Fox, or Foxx as a last name--this is a pretty common last name, it seems. Once I assumed this name--the fox dreams stopped coming at night, but I have seen several fox in the wild since then. One fox I saw seemed to be laughing at me....

Wow, how awesome to have the guts to reinvent yourself and change your name. Years ago I thought of doing it too although I never followed through with it. I wanted to change it to Orange since that is my favorite color and it makes me happy.

I tend to deny my middle name, not because it is a bad or disliked name, but for who it reminds me of. What a great story this is about your name. I hope you can fit it into the BJP sometime, as that would be so cool. Maybe even do a project based upon your name change?! That was so neat of you to share! Thanks,

Dreams are so full of meaning most of which escapes me. When I have a dream that keeps repeating or I wake up just knowing it was important I turn to my sister and my daughter. They have really interpreted them well for me. Like you, once I know their importance and act on them, the dreams go away!

I thought I'd like to add freebird to my name; I'm sure my family would think I finally went all the way crazy! How hard is it to do?
