That was a much longer break than I had planned --thanks for all you loyal reader's and commenter's concern--I am fine, and now very glad I made the trip and went to my friend's wake.
On my trip I knit and knit and knit away on the this baby blanket--for my grandbaby--the first one! due in late August. I'm supposing this "blankie" is about 1/3 knit now... of lovely yarn Cotten Fleece by the Brown Sheep Company--a nice 80% cotton/ 20% wool--very soft and cuddley. I picked a mix of gender neutral colors since we won't know until he/she arrives whether it is a boy or girl---so some blues and some pink, and then yellow and green...a color palette inspired by spring and spring flowers.
This is a very easy five knit/five purl basket stitch with a garter stitch edging.
A good quick and easy project to work on in airports and on the airplane. I find knitting when taking off and landing in an airplane relaxes that little bit of anxiety I feel then...and certainly knitting on a trip I meet more interesting people who ask me "what are you making?"
Oh! and some Great News! the Knitalong book authors--Larissa Brown & Martin John Brown---will be at the Berkeley bookstore where I work--Mrs. Dalloway's---in late May! More info to come...for any of you that live in the Bay Area of Northern California who might like to attend.
Lovely blankey!
ReplyDeleteThe colors are beautiful!
Thanks for you nice comments! I actually picked the yarn colors for a project I designed with a Fair isle knit in mind...but decided to use the yarn for this blanket instead.
