One tiny bead at a time

Welcome to my world of beading, knitting, drawing, painting---oh! and I like to play cards and read in my off time--when I'm not in the studio making things. I can't help but think of my poetry teacher--a proff I had back in the 1990's in college, who is now dead--but he would have loved this blogging....or would he? he was a Luddite who only used an old manual typewriter---in the 90s! here's to you, DON! you taught me about writing and life...and somehow, I think you are watching us all--all your writing pupils from wherever you are, as we create with words the stories of our lives...
(it boggles me to think of millions of people doing this--what can this possibly mean for our society?)

For several years now I have been obssesed with beading---mostly bead crochet, which invovles stringing tiny seed beads onto thread, before crocheting the necklace or bracelet. I did this bead stringing --sometimes in very intricate patterns--for many months before it dawned on me why I was so drawn to doing this. It was this: the world can be in total chaos all around me, and I am putting something in order in my life, one tiny bead at a time.

(Is it trite to go on here about how this led me to see that we could fix this messed up world--one action at a time? ok--you get it by now, I will spare you the newage) Suffice it to say, that after 3 years of this, when I find myself obsessively stringing beads, I know I am re-acting (somehow, some where) to some choas or disorganization around me.

So, how do you re-act to choas in your life or the world? What is your personal coping mechanism? Most of us have one...feel free to leave me your comments about this, and thanks.

Good for you Aurora...never afraid to jump in and try out the new thing. Beading as metaphore for life? Hmmmmm. You could have a music group to promote your ideas, the BEADLES. I think there is potential here.
